Grandma White's Ginger Cream Cookies
1/4 c. shortening or margarine
1 small egg
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
Mix thoroughly then add:
1/2 c. water
2 c. flour
1/2 t. salt
1 t. ginger
1/2 t. soda
1/2 t. nutmeg
1/2 t. cloves
1/2 t. cinnamon
Chill dough for 3-4 hours. Drop by teaspoons about 2" apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for about 8 minutes. When cooled, frost with butter cream frosting. (I love penuche frosting on them, but that's just me!! Cream cheese frosting would be good too!)
